Where Does the Offering Go?

Adventist World Radio’s annual offering will take place on March 10, 2012. This is an occasion when most regions of the world Seventh-day Adventist Church will be focused on supporting AWR and our unique ministry.

We value our partnership with churches, members, and other supporters, and welcome this opportunity to describe what we do and how your gifts directly benefit listeners worldwide.

1. What does AWR do?

AWR broadcasts the Adventist message of hope to the unreached people groups of the world in their own languages, through shortwave and AM/FM radio, on demand, and podcasts. Programs are produced by native speakers in local studios around the world. These programs introduce listeners to God and His love for the very first time, as well as provide helpful guidance for issues in their day-to-day lives.

Such outreach is an integral part of the Adventist church’s mission. Radio can carry the gospel message directly into people’s homes and hearts, bypassing barriers of politics, culture, and geography. Another benefit is that radio is one of the most cost-effective forms of ministry.

2. How are funds used?

Offering income goes straight into AWR’s production and transmission (airtime) costs. Other costs, such as staffing and administrative functions, are covered by appropriations that come through the church system.

For example, your offering could be used to:

  • Pay for a weekly half-hour shortwave broadcast to listeners in North Korea, who will almost certainly never have the opportunity to meet a missionary or obtain printed Adventist materials.
  • Fund the modest salary of a new producer in Tibet, where there are very few Adventist church members and no organized church presence.
  • Contribute to the equipment and training costs of a rebuilt studio in Senegal, a primarily Muslim country where public evangelism is dangerous.
  • Purchase and distribute special digital audio devices and solar/hand-crank radios to listeners in remote areas of Mexico, Madagascar, the Philippines, and other countries.
  • Expand the reach of our shortwave station on the Pacific island of Guam, which currently broadcasts across nearly all of Asia in 34 languages.

3. How can I get involved?

We welcome your generous gift on March 10 and warmly thank you in advance. Beyond that, we would be thrilled to welcome you as an ongoing partner. Throughout the year, we are constantly working on ways to reach new listeners, and this can only happen with your prayers and financial support. Specifically, we encourage you to:
