What if a tiny shortwave radio was the only way for you to hear about Jesus? This is the challenge in many countries that AWR broadcasts to, from areas in the Middle East to locations in Asia, and other areas where government controls on religion, poor local communication systems, and widespread poverty hinder the easy spread of the gospel.
How are gifts to AWR used? To share the gospel message on the radio in more than 80 languages. Currently, 100% of every gift sent directly to AWR is used for costs directly associated with getting programs on the air. AWR’s administrative and overhead expenses are funded by the General Conference and some worldwide divisions.
AWR offerings from the world fields enable us to fund numerous special projects, such as:
Equipment and station construction in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the production center for Swahili programs.
A studio in Ethiopia, which produces programs in Afar, Tigrinya, Amharic, and Oromifa.
Purchasing air time for Madarin programs on a local Chinese radio station in Melbourne, Australia.
Production of Arabic programs in Collonges, France.
Seed money for starting production of Turkish programs.
Assistance for our studio in Pakistan, which otherwise would not have sufficient funds to continue producing Urdu, Pashto, and Punjabi programs.
